Tecún Umán I Master Plan

The Comprehensive Customs Modernization Project “Master Plan” at the Tecún Umán Customs aims to improve processes through the implementation of modern infrastructure and technology that allows strengthening controls, facilitating operations and reinforcing security, in addition to enhancing the capabilities of personnel. . for optimal performance.

This project is divided into phases, with the inauguration of the first phase by the Customs Superintendent on March 23, 2023. This has resulted in significant changes in processes, improving service to both nationals and foreigners.

Before, Customs had several inconveniences, due to its infrastructure such as:

  • The facilities were not adequate for serving the public.
  • Due to the lack of infrastructure, there were no defined processes.
  • There was no special area for physical verification.
  • There was no joint inspection and quarantine control protocol, which generated insecurity at entry.
  • Lack of lighting.
  • There was no enclosure around the Customs perimeter.

Now, processes and infrastructure of the facilities have been improved with the aim of providing better care, which includes:

  • Definition of processes, which will be certified under the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
  • An area has been implemented for the physical verification of vehicles and merchandise.
  • Joint inspections are being carried out with SAT-SGAIA-DIPAFRONT-MAGA.
  • Quarantine control with a spray arc has been implemented.
  • It has stadium-type lighting.
  • Closing of the customs perimeter.
  • Pedestrian crossing and signage for the safety of people crossing through Customs.

In addition to the above, we are working on other improvements for Customs, which will have a positive impact for the Country.
